Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle’s Second Annual Sweetheart Basket fundraiser is underway. With Valentine’s Day approaching, this is a great way to try to win a great gift for your sweetheart and benefit a great cause, Relay for Life. These baskets are a fun way to get involved with the hospital staff and the community.

Several departments at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle are given themes and put together different baskets to donate for public sale.

“We like to search for ways to encourage employee participation,” said Community Relations Coordinator Donna Grant. “By organizing an event like the Sweetheart Basket fundraiser, we were able to give employees an opportunity to tap into their creative sides in an effort to raise money for a charitable cause. Last year we were able to raise more than $4,000 for Relay for Life.”

The concept is easy — purchase a ticket, choose which basket is your favorite and place your tickets with the marked bucket. Picking your favorite basket is the hard part. These baskets have some great items in them. This year there are 25 themed baskets. The themes range from a “Date Night” basket to Mississippi State University football and basketball game tickets. The tickets will be available for purchase on certain dates and are available to the public. You do not have to present to win these baskets. Cash and checks are accepted, and checks can be made out to The American Cancer Society. Again, all proceeds from ticket purchases go to Relay for Life.

Tickets will be available on these dates:

• Jan. 29, 2014, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., outside the Baptist cafeteria.

• Feb. 5, 2014, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., near the Baptist gift shop.

• Feb. 7, 2014, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., outside the Baptist cafeteria.

• Feb. 11, 2014 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., near the Baptist gift shop.

• Feb. 13, 2014, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., outside the Baptist cafeteria.

The drawing will take place Feb. 13 at 2:00 p.m. outside the Baptist cafeteria, and you do not have to be present to win.

$1 = 1 ticket
$5 = 7 tickets
$10 = 12 tickets
$20 = 30 tickets
