The National Pan-Hellenic Council of MUW will hosts its first-ever Greek Block Party, “A Family Affair,” on April 23, 2013 from 6-10 p.m.
The National Pan-Hellenic Council and local Greek sororities and fraternities will join together for this exciting event. The Greek organizations that will be participating will include Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Rho Beta Chi Sorority, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., Xi Delta Omega Fraternity and Beta Kappa Tau Fraternity.
“The purpose of this event is to express Greek unity across the campus of Mississippi University for Women and to provide a stress-reliever before finals start,” says Jeffrey Johnson, president of the NPHC.
This event will be the first of its kind for the black Greek organizations on campus. The National Pan-Hallenic Council of MUW is made up of four African-American nationwide Greek sororities and fraternities, which include Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
“I am extremely excited about what this event will bring to campus. This event will show the campus a fun-filled side of the NPHC, and I feel this will be a big hit on campus,” says Malinda McBride, vice president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
This event will consist of free food such as hot dogs, chips and drinks. Also, there will be a fun-filled atmosphere of music, games, a stroll off (dance) competition and Greek-oke (karaoke) competition between the clubs, and all-out fun for the campus of MUW to enjoy. The event will be free for all MUW students, workers, faculty and staff.
