Praise, worship & crawfish

The Wesley Foundation of MUW is a ministry of the United Methodist Church that welcomes all students regardless of their denomination. Every Wednesday evening, Wesley invites all students to come out and participate in praise and worship. However, last week was different.

Along with praise and worship, Wesley offered a special treat to MUW students. On April 10, Wesley ministries took praise and worship to another level — outside.

A large number of students crowded around the gazebo for entertainment and great food. The menu consisted of boiled and seasoned crawfish with corn on the cob. For entertainment, Wesley provided a band made up of students and a few local church members.

“I loved both the food and entertainment, because they each complemented each other,” says Tiffany Williams, a junior culinary arts major.

The event attracted a lot of students and lasted for several hours. Students came from all over campus to participate in the festivities and chow down on delicious food provided by the Wesley Foundation.

“I enjoyed it very much,” says Christina Dooley, junior fine arts major. “It was a blast to worship with my fellow students and play games to get to know each other more.”

Wesley is re-defining praise and worship, as well expanding its outreach. The crawfish boil was a creative way to gather students, but the fun doesn’t stop there.

For every Sunday in the month of April, Wesley will be hosting IGNITE. IGNITE is a new service of praise that allows anyone of any age to come and worship at the Wesley Foundation.  The lesson, “Moving on” will be taught by Kyle Ivy, while praise and worship will be led by Bryson Robinson.
